Best Gastroenterologist in Ahmedabad
Acidity, liver disease, endoscopy and colonoscopy — when symptoms need a scope rather than another antacid.
Symptoms that need a scope, not a tablet
Long-term acid suppression without a diagnosis is common and unwise. Warning symptoms are difficulty or pain on swallowing, vomiting, unexplained weight loss, anaemia, a persistent change in bowel habit, or any blood in the stool.
Fatty liver is now extremely common and usually silent. It is often picked up incidentally on ultrasound, and at that stage it is largely reversible with weight and metabolic control.

Common questions
When do I need an endoscopy?
For persistent acidity not responding to treatment, difficulty or pain swallowing, vomiting, unexplained weight loss or anaemia.
At what age should I have a screening colonoscopy?
Screening usually begins at 45 to 50 for average risk, and earlier where there is a family history of colorectal cancer or polyps. Discuss your own risk with a gastroenterologist.
Is endoscopy painful?
It is done under sedation as a day procedure. Most patients remember very little of it and go home the same day.
Is fatty liver reversible?
In its early stages, largely yes — through weight reduction, control of diabetes and lipids, and avoiding alcohol. Advanced fibrosis is harder to reverse, which is why early detection matters.
What should I bring to a gastroenterology appointment?
Bring previous endoscopy or scan reports, recent blood tests including liver function, and a list of current medicines including any antacids.
